The Youths from the kairos Centre and the Jamaican membes of our team went to Dublin Today for a day out. Myself and Pastor Gavin (The Antiguan Contingent) stayed at Morlough House for a day in. They reportedly had a good time and saw some awsome sights in Dublin.
For my part I learnt at breakfast that the lettuce (frilly lettuce they called it) was from the garden and some other fruits and veggies were growing there. So off we went to the garden (Me and the cameras that is) to have a look see. First I saw the strawberries, then the apples, blackberries (not the smart phone lol), redberries, grapes, rasberries (gooseberries),plums, pears and cherries on the trees (all will be ready about September). I had a talk with Richard the gardener who was picking rasberries (the exotic type) at the time. While I was capturing something I had allways wanted to see a bit enthuastically and excitedly. Richard said something profound to me "They are exotic to you as pineapple is to us" I could not have said it better. I said hello to the cat "Bramwell" he was not very talkative that day. After taking too many pictures as usual and enjoying the grafted exotic (to me) plants and sampling the succulent gooseberries I heard Richard say that he was going to pick Strawberies next. 'Who tell he say that?'. I ambled over to the strawberry section and sampled a few off the trees (You cant have them fresher than that). That seminal moment (caught on video ofcourse) was one of my lifelong desires (to pick an exotic fruit and eat it) and I was not even expecting it to be in Northern Ireland.Pictures
The Day-in was a really good thing for us. Normally I would not have opted out of a sightseeing tour. God knows best.
